Film

As a painter engaged with silk-screen printing, 16mm film is where qualities of her painting meet the instant reproduction possibilities of the screen print. Features of the 16mm film add the dimension of time into the former silent still image and also open up possibilities for further exploration of tactile qualities and materiality of the medium in her work.

FILM, UNTITLED Synopsis I:

Cameraless 16mm Untitled film is among Malgorzata Drohomirecka’s first experiments with the medium. Geometrical shapes are screen-printed directly onto the clear film leader using various acrylic colors, so that rhythmically composed patterns coalesce to form a single flow. Tactile qualities, gained by transferring paint onto the celluloid through the mesh of the silk-screen allude to warp and weft of the textile.
